ABOUT US
In the village of Westhead, a short drive south east of Ormskirk, is the family owned and run Prince Albert. Dating back to the early 18th century, this fine hostelry started off as an old farmhouse. The farmer at the time began to expand the business and started brewing his own beer, also setting up a smithy on which is now the car park. Its nice to know that this warm and friendly family run pub is just as welcoming now as it was back then.
The bed & Breakfast was added to the upstairs of the pub in the early 90''s and boasts 4 Bedrooms all with showers.
Now a free house owned by Simon & Mandy Forshaw, we have managed to get the pub back where it belongs in the good beer guide 7 years running after a break of over five years. We have also won the CAMRA best newcomer 2007 and also CAMRA community pub of the year 2008 and we have been cask marque certified.
We boast five real ale pumps and a selection of lagers, also strongbow cider and of course Guinness and Guinness extra cold.
Our food is freshly prepared daily with cooking times 12 noon until 2.30pm monday through to saturday, and sunday 12 noon until 4pm We have become renowned for our fresh home cooked food and especially our fish and chips.
